The research group of Performance Evolution and Control of Structures (PECS) is proactive and united in the teaching and research activities.
We emphasize on personnel education. Having eight faculty members and more than 60 graduate students, we are actively involved in undergraduate and graduate courses, and in charge of national and Shanghai municipal education reform and curriculum development projects with many individual and team rewards, including one first prize and one second prize of national level, as for the teaching achievements.
We focus on the research of life-cycle maintenance of engineering structures, damage process analysis of materials and structures, structural performance enhancement, and innovative structural systems. In-depth and productive research work has been carried out. As a result, we have won two first prizes, two second prizes and two third prizes of the provincial level, respectively.
We integrates the scientific research and engineering practice. We have edited or co-edited 12 codes and standards, owned 11 patents of invention, independently developed a software of REliability Assessment and Strengthening design for Existing building Structures (REASES), and has accomplished many inspection, appraisal and strengthening services of national historical buildings and post-disaster buildings of Wenchuan area after the earthquake.
We are also active in international exchanges and have accommodated many visiting scholars and exchanging students from overseas. Our faculty members and students also frequently participate in international and domestic academic conferences and symposiums.
